Intention Deficit: Finding Your Passion

Are you intention deficit?

Do you get lost in your head trying to figure out what you are really here to do?

Do you have a clear direction in your life?

If you feel aimless have a look at the biggest wound from your past. Was it the bullies in the playground, or your mom having cancer, or abuse, or a car accident, or divorce? Whatever your example is, your healing process from that event can feed your biggest passion. When you see the gift of your 'wound' you are at a place where you can give back to others facing a similar 'wound'.

" Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light" ~ Alberta Schweitzer

Is your light out? Or are you ready to rekindle another's?

Running a Full Marathon

Continued from "Inspiration Lead to Motivation..."

I manifested this result by asking myself repeatedly the quote that I read “whether I believe that I can or can’t either way I am correct”. I read that quote when I was thinking of quitting and when things got tough. I just kept working my butt off doing whatever I could. I ended up being injured 7 out of the 16 weeks of my training. When I was injured I kept up my positive attitude by asking myself “what is it that I could do today to bring me closer to my goal of finishing”. Sometimes the answer was resting, and sometimes it meant that I needed to swim at 6 o’clock in the morning before work instead of running.

A week and a half until the marathon, Brenda and I went out for our final 32 kilometer run to prepare. By the time we were half way done we were caught in a blizzard. My gluts were so sore heading back, and with 4 kms to go we both gave up on our run. We were freezing and almost hypothermic. I could barely walk and I felt like I was going to pass out. We managed to reach a taxi to take us back to our vehicle. When I got home I thought that I should just do the half-marathon as it would be easier. This was a familiar thought process, as I’ve always wanted to take the easier way. But I remembered something that I read.

“Belief is a process; it is a process of raising your desire while decreasing your resistance.” This was my last test and again, I made the choice to believe that I could run the full 42 kms.

The day before the marathon I had a sore back from walking all over town. Later that night I was in a lot of pain and that’s when I remembered the movie the Secret. Ask, Believe, Receive. That night I asked for a strong mind and a strong body when I woke up and I believed that I was going to get it. The morning of the marathon I couldn’t have felt better. I got exactly what I asked for.

During the run I was taking it really easy and at the 10km mark I was on pace for finishing in 5 hours. I was really worried about my gluts being sore again. I told myself at that point to forget about it and I promised myself two things; that I would finish the race and that I would leave everything on the course and do my best. At the 13 km mark I saw a lady with a tattoo that read, “whatever it takes” and I thought, dam rights. It was a good thing I saw this because at the 16 km mark I got the worst shin splints anyone could ever get. Most people wouldn’t even be able to walk it was so painful and for the next 5 kms I kept telling myself, “whatever it takes” nothing is going to stop me.

At the half way point with 21 kms left it was like my mind convinced my body that I wasn’t going to give up. It was like a blanket covered my legs and I no longer felt any pain. From there I picked up the pace. I was now passing people like crazy and the kms to the finish line seemed to be passing with easy and joy. I felt extremely good until I realized that I had just passed the 32 km mark, this was the furthest that I had ever run.

My plan for the race was to stop at every water station and walk for 30 seconds while I hydrated. Each station was 2 miles apart and it was getting harder and harder to start up running again. I skipped the second last water station but I could feel my body needing water and there was one last climb up a bridge that was a km long. I stopped at the last water station before the big climb and I got a sensation of the pain that I would feel in my legs once I crossed the finish line. I started up again without hesitating. I climbed that hill knowing that the crowd would take me to the finish line once I got to the top with 2 kms left. I felt the energy of the crowd and I knew that I was going to finish. I savored every minute of it but those last 2 kms but it felt like 10. I ran the first half in 2:14 and the second half in 2:04 for a total time of 4:18. Once I made the decision to give it my best at the 10 km mark, I managed to shave over 40 minutes of my time.

Faith is a process of asking for what you want and believing that you will get it. That was the first time in my life that I have ever experienced having faith and when I crossed that finish line, I knew that my spirit had grown and evolved.

Mental Conception: 68 Seconds of Desperation or Enlightenment?

Call it prayer, chanting a mantra, singing together, repetition of an affirmation or collective focused attention – whatever you want to call it, there is power in thought. There is monumental power in pure collective concentrated thought.

If you want to make something happen, quantum physicists have proven over the last few decades that focused pure thought (without doubt) creates your desire to happen. Just check out the movie “What the Bleep” for a layman’s description of this.

Now the challenge is to remove any doubt and attain pure thought. By successfully removing doubt you can mentally conceive your hearts desire! Easier said than done? Well of course, or we would all be millionaires!

The excitement in understanding this though, is that we all have control over what our brain is thinking about. So how do you train your brain to create what you want?

A well used method is visualization. When you totally immerse yourself in a visualization process and go with the flow of your life (clear intent without resistance) you are training your brain to accept the desire as already happening, ergo it happens, (my Matrix obsession is showing). To maintain focus, you can use picture boards, role-playing, repeating a short phrase, etc. Totally immerse your mind in the visualization process, with no or little opportunity to have a contradictory thought. There are many ways to focus and each person uniquely chooses what fits them.

A technique called 68 Seconds of Pure Thought can be used to leverage visualization further.

There is a Universal Law here called The Principle of Focused Attention. Basically, it means that with 17 seconds of pure focus, your thought combusts into a higher level of energy, the equivalent of 2,000 action hours.

Since thoughts stream one after another, naturally keeping the focus for another 17 seconds at the same energy level it will combust again at 34 seconds. Now the expression of energy is ten times the first giving 20,000 action hours.

This higher energy brings the desired thought into being more quickly.

Have a look at this chart to see the power of 68 seconds of focused pure thought.

Our 68 seconds is a repeated phrase over and over for 68 seconds:

“I Lovingly Give and Receive Abundance!“

What are your thoughts focused on?

Check in with yourself and choose.

You can choose to let go of desperation and focus on 68 seconds of enlightenment. You will totally impress yourself!

Success Leaves Clues

Many have said that success leaves clues, and that all you need to do to be successful is to find someone who has done what you want to do and do what they did. I've also heard that opportunity knocks, and I prefer to believe that opportunity stands on the other side of a door waiting for you to recognize that it's there. I don't think opportunities generally jump out in front of you and say "Here I Am!" and instead present themselves covertly or in disguise. I think it is the person who is prepared, and watching for opportunities that will find them when they present themselves. If they truly knocked for us, why do so many go unrecognized until it's too late?
I'm a firm believer in finding mentors to guide you in your quest for success. They can be in the form of a coach, or mentor that you meet on a regular basis. They can also be authors, or books, or audio CD's or any other form of multi-media that can provide you with "mind feed". You will become like the people you associate with, and the information you take in. If you continually associate with negative people and fill your mind with the images of doom and gloom on radio, tv and newspapers it will be very difficult to make positive changes in your life. Alternatively, if you seek out people who encourage, motivate and challenge you, and fill your idle time reading books on success, and listening to audio programs from successful people, you won't be able to help changing your thoughts. I know that I have made this a practice in my own life, and have been amazed by the number of opportunities and great relationships that I have formed since starting.
I believe it was Jim Rohn who said "Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become" which basically sums up this post. In order to change your current station in life, you've got to be prepared to change your thoughts, actions and beliefs.
In my words "Success leaves clues, and opportunity knocks, but only for those who are prepared to recognize them."
Make it part of your daily practice to work on becoming someone who recognizes opportunities, and attracts success.

Ask, Believe Receive

If you've seen The Secret, you're likely familiar with the phrase "Ask, Believe, Receive". What are your thoughts around that? Is it really that easy?
I had an interesting conversation with my wife the other night about exactly that subject. The discussion began with a comment about her "believing it when she sees it". She was referring to some of the things on her wish list, and how she thinks it'll be easy to believe they'll come true once there are signs of progress. I mentioned that what I'm believing more all the time, is that in order for these dreams and desires to manifest, I must first define them with clarity. Then I must believe that what I've asked for is being delivered with unwavering faith, and lastly to be ready to receive them when they do arrive.
The analogy that I used to explain this process seemed to help clarify things. I asked her to imagine all of the things that have ever invented. Obviously if something is a new invention, it couldn't have existed before. The inventor must have had a vision of the thing to be created, had faith that it was possible and taken steps towards making it a reality.
In conclusion, nothing was ever created without there first being a vision and a belief in it. It is only after inspired action that results are produced. What do you dream of having or achieving, and what are you doing to turn it into a reality?

Cleanups

If you are like most of us, you have a mass of unfinished tasks in your life. Everything from cleaning the garage to filing papers to shining your shoes. Every one of these unfinished tasks drains our energy when we see it needs to be done or even just think about it.

If incomplete tasks drain our energy, the reverse is also true. Every time we finish a job to our satisfaction, we get an energy boost and a sense of accomplishment.

When we develop the habit of finishing tasks and clearing away old jobs, the result is that we gain more energy, clarity, focus, confidence, and optimism. It also helps us to attract the things we want. If our life is cluttered with unfinished jobs, there is no space in it for the things we want to manifest.

A simple start to solving this problem is to set a timer for 5-15 minutes per day to spend on cleanups of unfinished jobs. Momentum will build and you will find that you feel good about even this small effort. It's amazing how much will change in your life in a short time using this method. Give it a try. I defy anybody to say that they can't manage 5 minutes a day.

Applying the Secret

If you're like me, you were mesmerized and inspired when you first saw The Secret and began learning about the Law of Attraction. The question is, have you had success applying this new found information in your life. Are you a conscious creator? Are you accountable for the events in your life?
I can say I'm a believer, and yet have not reached a point where I feel my results match my intentions. This leads me to reflect on why that may be, and I believe the answer is understanding how my thoughts are affecting my actions and results. Obviously, the results we produce in life, are the result of our collection of life experiences and the beliefs we formed about them. I know that I come from a very much industrial age philosophy that money is the result of hard work, and much effort. While I don't currently believe that to be necessarily true, on some level this must be my underlying belief. If it wasn't, I would have an overflowing bank account, and abundance in all areas of my life.
So how do we go about changing beliefs? Some will say, and even teach that it can be as simple as just releasing and letting go of those limiting beliefs. Again, I'd like to use that process as it seems the simplest, although in my experience it is more involved than that. I think the answer, is to change our environments, and the information we process on a daily basis. Try turning your TV, and radio off for an entire month and see how your life changes. We are inundated on a daily basis with death, distruction and turmoil. Eliminating this negative energy from our lives is a great step in the right direction. Chosing to read inspirational and motivational books every day, listening to audio programs while you drive, and seeking out mentors will do wonders for developing new habits and therefore new results.
Make a decision today to be in charge of your life's events. Be an active participant rather than a casual observer. I don't believe that one's life happens, I believe that one makes their life by the thoughts they think, and the actions they take. Take actions today to make your life in line with your passions.

Have a great day,

Overcoming Addictions

Have you been feeling like time is speeding up? Feeling stressed out? This is because your mind only can work at a speed of 24 frames per second. When your mind doesn't feel that it can keep up it has a safety over ride called stress. This is your signal for getting up and walking away. However in today's society we've adapted to stress, it has become a part of our daily lives. It is a measure of how well you can perform in your job, "How much stress can you take?".

When this stress builds up it causes either a "fight or flight" response for self preservation. We can see examples of this all over the world such as; bullying that leads to school shootings, terrorism, wars, depression, anxiety.

This leads to addictions. Addictions to all kinds of things; food, shopping, drugs and alcohol, work, gambling or watching too much TV. Addictions are a persons way of choosing to remain unconscious. Serious addictions lead to suicide but there is good news!

YOU ARE NOT YOUR MIND!

You are the awareness of what your mind is thinking. You are the creator and the choice maker. You are a part of the whole and are connected to every other thing on this planet. So how do we tap into this? It is called your INTUITION. This is your own inner knowing. Have you ever knew something without having all the knowledge or logical answers? Did you act on it? If you did, wasn't it really cool to have the right answer at the right time and that everything worked out for the best?

So how do we use our intuition? The first step is to become aware of yourself. Be aware of the choices that you are making without judgment. This process is not about beating yourself up, it's about waking up and seeing the light. Like the ghosts of christmas past, they can't come back to haunt you when you shine your light on them. Keep in mind that this is a process of finding yourself and it is a process. This awakening is about being present. Consciousness always has a time and a place and it is different for everyone. This is your view point of the world and nobody else can have your view point. They can agree with you but can never have the same one.

This leads to your DEVINE INTENTION. This means that you have an intention here on earth. You chose to come here to this earth for a reason and you have a DARMA. This means that you have a specific ability that nobody else has. Your challenge now is to find out what your intention is. How can we find out what this is? You got it, it is your intuition that will guide you to where you need to be. Start to trust yourself by asking yourself the questions that you have and listen to your body. You have all the answers within you.

Direct your focus of attention on your intention. Whatever you focus on grows abundantly. What you put your attention on you become conscious of. Go with the flow of creation and enjoy your journey as life is meant to be fun and joyful. Help others get what they want and you too will get what you want.

And remember, nothing is ever an accident!

Habits

Habits can be both useful and detrimental to our lives. If you have a bad habit to change, you will need to go through six stages of change according to the book "Changing for the Good".

While I can't list the details of each stage, just the names of them should give you an idea of what the process is to change a habit.

Stage 1: Pre-Contemplation - aware of a habit but not willing to make the effort to change
Stage 2: Contemplation - thinking about changing the habit
Stage 3: Preparation - beginning to plan how to change the habit
Stage 4: Action - doing something to change the habit
Stage 5: Maintenance - maintaining the change and avoiding slipping back
Stage 5: Termination - the problem is fully resolved and no longer presents a temptation

The stages will seldom resolve in the order listed and indeed it may be tough to even see what stage you are in as they blend together as you progress. You will often go though the stages several times in the case of a difficult to break habit.

The main thing to remember is that no habit can be changed unless you are ready and willing to make the change. Convincing our subconsious of this decision may be the most difficult thing you do in the process.
