Date: September 9 – 13, 2009
The purpose of the World’s Greatest Marketing Seminar is to teach you the skills of marketing so you will be successful with anything you do. The course is a hands on step by step marketing program that gives you the tools so you can develop a marketing plan and learn the specific strategies necessary to making a fortune in any business.
Some of the main components of the course are writing marketing copy, identifying your unique selling proposition, creating a name and tagline for your business, creating “hooks” that close the sale, branding strategically for your market and learning the critical elements to guarantee success in a marketing campaign.
Some of the highlights for me were the guest speakers. One in particular named Joel Roberts, who is a media coach was highly entertaining and provided great insight. It was also nice to have T. Harv Eker host a couple of the sessions. I did not expect him to be there, so it was a great surprise.
The seminar is set up to have guest speakers come in and provide us with teasers – a little bit of information, so that we buy their courses and learn a whole lot more. Now to be honest in five days I learned a ton from the guest speakers and they most definitely provided value. I am in fact happy with the teaser information because it allowed me to evaluate which areas I want to focus on and who I might take further education with. However if less emphasis was on selling, both from Peaks and the guests, the days could have been a little bit shorter.
One thing to be mindful of with going to a Peaks Course is that they are excellent at sales. You are so wrapped up in the excitement and the moment; they create the deal and the limitation and you can’t turn it down. Now for the most part you aren’t actually disappointed as their courses are very high quality, however the caution arises when investments are put in front of you. I was surprised to see an optional presentation over the lunch-time of an investment nature. I won’t go into details, but I did put some non-refundable money down only to go home, crunch the numbers and realize out of country citizens do not really benefit much and it wasn’t a good deal for me. I had got “sucked in” to the limitation and excitement… just be careful!
The course was held at the Westin Hotel at the Los Angeles Airport. The setting was very nicely put together, however the food choices were minimal. For those coming from out of town if you can somehow bring in snacks, or get to a grocery store I would highly recommend it. Another tip I have would be to book your hotel on www.priceline.com. I stayed at the Westin, which was nice, but you don’t get to spend time in your room. I spent just shy of $1000 Canadian for the week and found that a bit pricey. For my next course I booked a hotel through priceline and am paying less than half of that to stay at the Hilton right across the street.
I would most definitely recommend this course to anyone who has their own business or is planning to open their own business and already has the idea. Because of the experiential learning if you didn’t have an idea or a business already it would make it less valuable for you going through some of the exercises where you specifically work on your own business or idea.
From the Peak Potentials library of testimonials, here is what another gal who attended the course said:
“At the World’s Greatest Marketing Seminar, I was exposed to more high-level [marketing] experts that I could ever have contacted. Goals that I set last fall have been exceeded by a huge margin! With these new tools, I fully anticipate another leap!” (Barbara Buffington)
I am already implementing my learning’s from the course. I am really excited about moving forward with my own business to improve my results and help others improve theirs.
Wow!, that's great info Andrea. I really appreciate the heads up when it comes to the selling that goes on there and how honest you are about being sucked into it all.
